Birthday boy

Hello all I do hope you are all well and having a good week. You will pleased to hear the decorating is all done no disasters except the wheels fell of Phil's computer desk as he tried to put it back (just gives him an excuse to buy a new one lol) but all we did was take the others off so all good the room now looks clean (er than ever lol) and fresh the whole house smells of paint but it looks good even if i do say so myself.
So onto my card for today as you know My MiL has asked me to do a few cards for her and this is one of the last ones it's for her Hubby (my Fil) and his birthday is in a couple of weeks but they will be away on his birthday so she needed it done (he always seems to have a holiday on his birthday Hmmmmmm)
anyway here it is

All papers are freebies (I love my freebie papers) and inked with broken china and iced spruce then matted on to white card which has been distressed.
Oh it looks like I've been on the sherry by the look of the pics I am soory I think I rushed taking them as I knew she was coming to collect them
i added a sentiment that I  made in computer and 3 buttons

and of course matching insert

so there you have it i hope you like it and I will see you very soon with some new creations

I was made to strip on my birthday

Hello every one thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes they mean a lot I had a good day (well progressive) Phil decided to take me out for lunch as you know I can't do do busy restaurants and pubs at night so he said he would take for lunch instead so we went to a pub we know and used to go regular and it was lovely and quiet. Then we came home and Phil told to to start stripping ....... the living room walls "Oh happy birthday" I seem to recall do a quite a bit of decorating on my birthday am I mad??? (Don't answer that) So now the walls are naked and ready for painting we had a giggle doing it usually I do the decorating on my own but with my ear probs I can't climb as I have vertigo so lately when it's needed doing it's me and Amy and we were going to do it the weekend but no Phil wants it done out the way so it's being done early which means again no crafting for me for a few days I'm getting withdrawals lol
anyway I do have a card it's another that I made for my MiL and this one for her mom's birthday which is next month
The card is 8 x 8" and all papers except the small piece under sentiment are freebies
this is the sketch i used for Lo from CLP

the gorgeous image is from magic moonlight and was matted onto white card but I inked the edges with dried marigold  and wild honey I also used victorian velvet on papers too
for some reason I don't know why I been using over sized sentiments on a couple of cards but I do think they look ok lol

on this one you can see the hand made paper I made and like I was saying yesterday depending on what you use you get a different effect and this time I went with a flesh coloured acrylic then added browns yellow added crackle glaze and some rub ons and sealed with an acrylic glaze
the flowers are made from old pages of a book I used a scalloped edge circle and cut out a few them inked them with the same colours as above then sprayed with water and scrunched when dry I opened out added a bit more ink and mica powder  then added a brad to centre scrunched again and the open to the size and shape I wanted
I added a fussy bow with seam binding coloured with wild honey DI and added pins and a spray to flowers and job done
I hope you like it and I will see you soon with some more

Happy birthday to me

Hello all hope you are all well and had a good weekend I managed to get a few cards done now I have a printer yayyyyy so good to one again  and as the post title says it's my birthday today I can't believe I'm 45 years old OMG I had a lovely bracelet off my in laws with some money and then I have had money from everyone else and new printer from Phil  so I can spend spend spend haha
Anyway onto my card for today my MiL asked me  to make about 5 cards for her so I am now getting down them the anniversary card I put on Saturday was one of them and this one

This one is made is made for her dad for father's day.The card is 7.5 x 8.5". All papers are freebies except the larger brown piece which is hand made I'm really enjoying doing this at the moment you get a really good leather effect. I have done some others to with different effects just depends on what you use I tried using some of that mesh that everyone has but never knows what to do with inked it and placed it on top of the wet acrylic which gave a good effect but to get the jist of making the paper check out the tutorial on my other blog here
Image is one I had for a while but never got round to using til now lol and I matted it onto red card

here you can see the effect you get from the hand made paper in the bottom two pics and for embellishments I added an old (well new but wanted) lace from a trainer to put across the top with the sentiment and 3 buttons with thread added to each
and that's it matching insert with verse to finish

and an arty view
so I hope you like it and I will see you soon with another I'm cooking with gas now lol

At last

Hello all hope you are well sorry for lack of posts but not having a printer has really thrown me behind it went in a week yesterday as it wasn't printing right and doing the nozzle checks it was just all over the place he looked at it and said he would have to keep it like I told you any way it turned out there was a ball of dust and cat hair that had some how got caught under the cartridge holder which was causing the trouble so they had to soak it 3 or 4 times then the lovely chappie said he had got it working but then a big alert came up saying the printer pads where at the end of there life span. As soon as he told me this I knew I had to buy a new one  you can get them changed but it's very expensive and can lead to problems in the future
so a trip to Wolverhampton now my printer (now dead printer) is just a bog standard home printer with scanner and  am getting through them quite quickly about every 18 months because I have the continuous ink systems put in my printers because the ink is so much cheaper lasts longer but you don't loose any quality and my printer is used daily
so we went to get a new one now I only use my scanner occasionally but I like to have one  and all the printers they had that had scanners weren't as good as the one that that just packed up the new ones were all Brother printers and the print quality isn't as rich as Epson so I had to compromise and go for a better professional printer but it doesn't have a scanner but I must say the print quality is very very good it is another Epson and to be fair the ones I have had I have had my use out of them and this one is s'posed to be the bees knees so we shall see
Anyway as I know have a printer I can share a card with you I made last night. It's for my MiL's sister's anniversary from my Mil of course
Papers are freebies and inked with distress inks picked raspberry and broken china then matted onto white card that I distressed the edges and inked in same colours

image is from magic moonlight

the sentiment was generated on PC then cut out using a spell binders die and inked in same inks I then added a fussy bow from ribbon from stash and added gems also from stash
and job done hope you like it and I definitely see you soon

I have to share this story with you

Good afternoon well my printer looks it has finally bitten the dust and I have to get to new one such a shame as I really liked this one and it means I have to go a few more days before I can do any crafting  (blows big raspberry) So no card from me again sorry
Anyway I have to share this delightful story and when I do you will realise how simple I really am lol
I went outside into the back garden last night  about 11ish and Scruff was sitting on the path at the edge of the grass just watching something now it was dark and my eye sight isn't the best in daylight even with me specs lol  so I looked towards what he looking at and to me it looked like a bra on the garden what I could see resembled the 2 cups well I hadn't put any washing out I said to myself and I don't put undies out anyway  I've heard about these knicker  thieves  and they ain't getting their mitts on mine
So I went to investigate further when I got close and I mean really close I was amazed to see 2 hedgehogs just sitting in garden, now we have had them before but they have always been rolled in a ball and never come out possibly because Jasper was trying to make friends with them or play with the thinking they were a new toy (I do miss him) but no their heads were out they were looking for food and even with me in touching reach (I didn't of course but I wanted to) they weren't bothered so of course there's me in the middle of the garden in my dressing gown aaawwwwing and cooing and going hello to these little fella's Phil came out asked what I was doing so I told him about our guests he went and got a tourch even shining that on them didn't scare them then he just looked at me as I was talking to them and said "mental" and off he went .
Then they decided to have a run around the garden boy can they shift but when I went out a little later they were still there so I out a bit of food out for them (it was gone this morning) now apart from on TV and in sanctuary places I have never seen a hedgehog up so close with out it being in a ball they have such adorable faces. So there that is my little story for you told I was daft, mental no not quite they didn't talk back to me lol

The Siren Call

Hello everyone I hope you had a good weekend I managed to get of couple of cards done 1 for a DT coming up on Wednesday the other I will show in a mo
I still have no printer (boohoo) sofor my DT card (Wed) had to use papers that I have had for ages and do you it felt so strange not designing the card on my computer.
The DT call for my new challenge blog is now well and truly closed and I have had replies of most that were picked so we are good to go can't wait
Anyway onto my card for today. This is another song inspired card yet again from the all time most talented man I have I ever had the privilege to listen to I love this man but you all know that anyway of course it's Darren Hayes this time the song is called "The Sirens Call" hence the tile of this post and here is my card I will share the song and lyrics with you at the end of this post
I have used a 6 x 6" card papers are freebies inked with black soot and ever green distress inks and matted onto black card
I have pirimaged (if that is how you spell it lol)the image I did this for those don't how to do it by printing the image off 3 times (before my printer bust) then after cutting them out I left1 of the images as it is then on the others measured in half a centimetre in and cut that away then the other 2 went in another half centimetre each time so the last image was 1.5cm smaller than the main 1 then sticky pads on back and mounted onto each other I did ink the edges with ever green after cutting to size
On this one you can see the depth
Then I added some cabbage roses made from seam binding in black and I used marine on some white sentiment was made on computer
I also added a black seam binding bow with long tails and that is it

I hope you like it and here is a video of the song and lyrics (there isn't an official video as it's only been release on an album)

Tie me up against the mast and shield the sunlight from my eyes
For I no longer can resist the haunting of her cries
They call me for the jagged rock
It was the sweetest melody
Like gold and honey dripping from the fingertips of God
I feel the wind against my face from the flapping of her wings
I feel the black and sily tenderness all choking me

But I can almost taste happiness
It's such a long way off
But I can almost feel your embrace
Above the Siren's call

Now it's beautiful or pure
But it exists beyond the shore
It struggles to be heard above the screeching of her call
beneath my feet a rumbling
A hundred demons clambering
They chase away my harmony and make love afraid to call
They grow forever restless and as our ship sets out to sea no
They will not be silenced
Never for you or me

But I can almost taste happiness
It's such a long way off
But I can almost feel your embrace
Above the Siren's call

And I've seen a hint of it
This happiness this bliss
Just knowing it exists I know that I must try
And I have caught a glimpse of it
One moment just one kiss
From the corner of my eye
Of better days gone by
But I can almost taste happiness
But I can almost feel your embrace

Hope you like it
